Philips latest Android device is the GoGear Connect PMP / PND

Philips certainly isn’t being shy this week about taking aim at the PMP and PND markets. Hot on the heels of their announcement of the Philips GoGear Muse MP4 player comes word of the GoGear Connect, an Android 2.1 powered PMP and PND rolled up into one gorgeous device replete with both a touchscreen and, more curiously, a trackball.
This isn’t a smartphone, so don’t expect 3G connectivity here, but Philips is still playing up the GoGear Connect’s online functionality, which will allow it to tether to your computer through Bluetooth or connect to any 802.11n WiFi hotspot in range.
Otherwise, the GoGear Connect will fully support VoIP, and ships with both a speaker and a microphone built-into the device, so you should be able to use this as a Skype phone, or with whatever video chat service you use. Additionally, the GoGear Connect ships with a GPS unit, allowing it to function as a sat-nav handheld.
As for the display, it’s a pretty paltry 3.2-inch affair at 320 x 480 resolution, but it does at least feature haptic feedback for chunkier touchscreen clicks. Other specs include a memory card slot for expandable storage, a rear-facing camera of unknown resolution and internal storage ranging between 8GB and 64GB.
Otherwise, the only thing to note about Philips’ GoGear Connect is the custom UI, which Philips seems to be slapping on all of their Android-powered devices. No specific price or release date is known, but Philips is making vague reference to a Q3 ship date…. at which point, this player will already be old news.

LG unveils new Xnote Ultralight CULV notebook, then accidentally reveals HDTV plans for 2010

The sexy little laptop you see above is South Korean manufacturer LG’s latest tantalizing notebook on offer: the XNote Ultralight. It looks gorgeous.
What we’re looking at is an 11.6-inch ultraportable, running on a CULV battery but with the upgrade to go full Core2 Duo available. Otherwise, it ships with 2GB of RAM, a 320GB or 500GB hard drive, a couple of USB 2.0 ports and 802.11-n WiFi connectivity. The LG Xnote Ultralight starts around $1000 USD, but it’s Korea-only right now, so if you’re interested in this Windows 7 based machine, you’ll need to import for the time being.
It’s not exactly a laptop I’m tempted to buy, but I do find it an attractively designed machine. Unfortunately, the specs and the price make this not particularly competitive with most netbooks which cost half as much.
In other LG news, the Korean manufacturers accidentally leaked a Google Docs spreadsheet explaining their display plans for the year. The displays they showcased at CES are coming out next month, along with their new 3D-line up compatible with 3D Blu-Ray in May.
LG is also looking to roll-out their Skype-capable HDTVs, as well as their own webcam accessory in the coming months. The spreadsheet also references the forthcoming 47-inch LEX8 and LEX9 models, which are only a quarter of an inch thick.
It’s not earth shaking news, surely, but LG does great work on their HDTV line-up, and with semi-official word that new models are coming, that’s reason enough to consider delaying your next television purchase accordingly… especially if you have visions of a 3D Avatar home theater experience in your future.

Remember the way you could poke and prod the magical creatures in Eye Of Judgment? It’s the same sort of tech, but used in a far more complex way.

As we all gear up to the Apple event next Wednesday (27th Jan), most are already certain that we’ll be seeing Apple launch their first tablet Mac aka iSlate / iTablet. However, some are speculating that this isn’t all that Apple may be hiding. The latest rumor surrounding this suggests a brand new fourth generation iPhone 4G may be unveiled as soon as next week or this coming Summer. Vuzix Corporation, company that specializes in video eyewear and personal display gadgets for the mobile video and defense has come up with a set of video eyewear that displays video content for educational training purposes.
One of the company's latest invention is called 920AR.
According to Vuzix, its new device is able to overlay the information a person wishes to observe over video content.
The new type of eyewear includes different applications about augmented reality on fixed screens.
There's a stereo camera mounted on the sunglass.
The camera captures video and allows the user to see it on a virtual 67-inch display as seen from 10 feet away.
You can watch 2D and 3D video virtually anywhere.

Bang & Olufsen Shows Offs Aluminum Laptop Designed for Asus

The Danish design house Bang & Olufsen was commissioned by tech giant Asus to develop a new design of a laptop. The design firm has made a good job and came up with this interesting aluminum laptop, called NX90Jq.

The laptop boasts a dual touchpad, which allows you to use both hands at the same time and manage the machine via multi-touch.

The device also has a large 18.4-inch screen. The design is enriched with B&O ICE power speakers. By using these speakers you can benefit from a quality surround sound.

It might look somewhat bulky and you may consider choosing one place to work on it, instead of moving the laptop from one place to another, but you will most likely enjoy working on it whether you use the device at home or office.

Dubbed LG Sphere, the gadget represents a hi-tech cell phone with GPS and Bluetooth to identify the position of the user. The phone can adjust to the needs and moods of the user.

Apple's MacBook Pro Features Leaked

Some information regarding the Apple's new MacBook Pros has leaked over the internet. Intel mentioned that the new device will have a Core i5 processor. The information was obtained by AppleInsider that in its turn received it from members of Intel's Retail Edge promotional program who got the information in an e-mail.

The message in the e-mail stated: "January Prize Draw: Win a MacBook Pro. Pass this month's trainings for 2 chances to win one of 2 MacBook Pro laptops with the accelerated response of an Intel Core i5 processor."

AppleInsider informs that the promotional program makes it possible for the retail employees who market Intel products to obtain information on technical details and sales tips. Earlier Intel presented its i7, i5 and i3 chips that are part of the company's line of 2010 Core family processors.

According to Sean Maloney, who works as Intel Executive VP, the new processors will feature integrated graphics. "The Core processors are moving into the gaming segment and can boost performance (approximately 2X) for FPS titles, Blu-ray videos and 3D applications," said Maloney at a CES briefing.

Acer Presents Ferrari One Notebook in US

The Taiwanese tech popular company Acer recently announced that it began selling its new 11.6-inch Ferrari One notebook in the United States.

The company's new notebook costs 0 and for this money you get:

- Athlon 64 X2 L310 dual core chip (1.20GHz);
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit;
- ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200 graphics;
