Packed with features, Olympus’s new µ-7040 ,pocket size 7X zoom camera, features a 28mm wide-angle shooting and HD movie recording capability bond to be released by end of January 2010. The new µ-7040 comes with large capacity 2 GB built-in memory enabling photo-surfing on the large 3-inch high resolution
LCD screen through use of new [ib] PC software. The zoom capabilities are supported by a 14-megapixel 1/2.33-inch CCD which works together with the high-resolution lens. Additionally, the built-in “DUAL IS” image stabilization based on high-sensitivity shooting and CCD-shift image stabilization mechanism prevent the image blur caused by shaking the camera through adjusting the direction of the CCD. The new camera supports MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression format. Among some of the other features on this new camera by Olympus are; Shadow adjustment Technology for detecting faces of subjects and optimizing focus and exposure accordingly, Magic Filter effect for creative imaging and Beauty Mode for touch up human faces and more effective results, Scene Modes for one-touch shooting adjustment, HDMI output control for operations including picture selection and frame-by-frame advancement through use of TV’s remote control, Face Detection AF, iAUTO function for analyzing the current composition and optimizes camera setting automatically, in-body panorama composition function, key back-light for easier button operations even in dark places to name a few.
